Olympic Medalist Innocent Egbunike Named PCC Track and Field/Cross Country Head Coach
Innocent Egbunike, who was associated with eight Olympic Games as an athlete and coach, is Pasadena City College's new full-time head coach for the Lancers men's and women's track and field and men's and women's cross country teams. The hiring will be made official at next month's PACCD Board of Trustees meeting.


Mike Terrill Selected New PCC Women's Volleyball Coach
Pasadena City College has selected Mike Terrill as its new women's volleyball head coach pending PACCD Board of Trustees approval next month. It is the first head coaching position for Terrill, who has served as a top assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level for the past seven years.


Baseball Sends 6 Sophomores To Next Level
Pasadena City College baseball coach Pat McGee announced today that six players or 75 percent from his 2016 Lancers sophomore class have committed to 4-year universities. The two remaining sophomores are still mulling scholarship offers from a few institutions, according to McGee.

Football Hosts "Day At The Races" At Santa Anita Park This Saturday, June 11
The Pasadena City College football program is hosting its first fundraiser for the 2016 season, "A Day At The Races" on Saturday, June 11 at Santa Anita Park.


AD Tony Barbone Selected To San Gabriel Valley Hall of Fame
Tony Barbone, Pasadena City College's athletic director, will be honored as a new inductee to the San Gabriel Valley Hall of Fame. Barbone will be part of the festivities at the 21st SGV All-Star Baseball Game for high school seniors on Sunday, June 5 at Ben Hines Field at the University of La Verne. The game begins at 3:30 p.m.


Two-Sport Star Givens, Baseball's Quire Named '15-16 PCC Athletes of the Year
School record-setting, two-sport women's performer Ariahn Givens and baseball player Joe Quire were selected as the 2015-16 Pasadena City College Athletes of the Year.


Track and Field Season Ends
The Pasadena City College men's and women's track and field season came to an end at Saturday's Southern California Championships at Antelope Valley College. The Lancers failed to qualify any athletes to the CCCAA State Championships.


Volleyball To Have New Coach For 2016 Season
Kari Post, Pasadena City College's part-time acting head coach for women's volleyball this past season, has announced she is resigning to accept a head coaching job at another college in Northern California. Post directed the Lancers to a 14-9 season and a spot in the SoCal Playoffs in 2015. She was an assistant coach in two previous seasons at PCC.


Oh So Close, Badminton Settles For State Team Runner-Up
It was looking like a state women's badminton title was finally coming to Pasadena City College. After trailing for much of the CCCAA State Team Championship Team Final v. North champion Fresno City College and down 9-8, the Lancers appeared to be in position to win during the last round of doubles Thursday.


Tzou's Perfect Badminton Season Ends With State Singles Crown
There was no player more disappointed on the first two days of the CCCAA State Badminton Championships than Pasadena City College's Rebecca Tzou. The sophomore was hoping to perform a magical triple in titles. But first she saw her Lancers lose in the state team final, 11-10, against Fresno City on Thursday. Then on Friday, poised to repeat as a state individual doubles champion, she didn't even get the chance to defend the crown as partner Sandra Maw suffered an injury before their first match that resulted in the duo being eliminated from the competition.


PCC's Quire, Conant Selected All-SCC Baseball First Team
The Pasadena City College lefty hitter duo of sophomore first baseman Joe Quire and freshman designated hitter Jeremy Conant were named to the All-South Coast Conference Baseball First Team by conference coaches.


PCC Meets Fresno City In State Team Badminton Final Thursday
For only the second time in its program's history, the Pasadena City College women's badminton team advanced to a state championship final. The Lancers are looking to make school history Thursday, May 12 at 3 p.m. as they play Fresno City College in the state team final at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. The Lancers have never won the state team title since women's badminton became a California Community College intercollegiate sport in 2000.


PCC Swimmer Givens Grabs Silver In State Women's 100 Freestyle
The Pasadena City College women's swim team didn't start out the 2016 CCCAA Swimming and Diving State Championships well, but the Lancers finished on a high note thanks to the speedy performances of freestyler Ariahn Givens. PCC placed 12th in the state meet held for the sixth straight year at East Los Angeles College's Swim Stadium May 5-7.

While Southern California saw thunderstorms rolling across the region and flooded streets in some areas, the scene at Pasadena City College on Friday night was bright and cheery.


Women's Badminton Edges Irvine Valley, 12-9
The Pasadena City College women's badminton team punched its ticket to the CCCAA State Championship final with a 12-9 victory over Irvine Valley in the Southern California Regional title match played Wednesday at PCC's Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.


Alum Michael Cooper Returns To PCC For Sparks Exhibition Basketball Game
Michael Cooper, a Pasadena City College Hall of Fame men's basketball legend and later a NBA top defensive wizard for the Los Angeles Lakers, is returning to PCC as the head coach of the WNBA's Atlanta Dream. On Saturday, May 7, Cooper's Dream squad plays the Los Angeles Sparks in an exhibition game at PCC's Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. Tip-off is 4 p.m.

Freshman shortstop Karina Moreno and sophomore rightfielder-first baseman Derek Blow were the Pasadena City College selections on the 2016 All-South Coast Conference Softball Team.


Women's Badminton Hosts SoCal Title Match May 4
Pasadena City College women's badminton is 21-0 in South Coast Conference matches since head coach Jennifer Ho took over the program to start the 2015 season. The Lancers closed out their SCC title run with a 9-0 record on Friday behind a 17-4 win at East Los Angeles.


Quire's 2 Triples, Double Not Enough In Baseball's Season-Ending Loss
Sophomore first baseman Joe Quire ripped two triples and a double in a wild season finale but his Pasadena City College baseball team lost to host East Los Angeles, 11-9, Friday night. The Lancers finished the year at 13-23, a 3-win improvement from a season ago under second-year head coach Pat McGee.


Bailon Serves Lone PCC Highlight Of SCC Track And Field Finals
In a lean year for Pasadena City College track and field, sophomore women's distance runner Edna Bailon came up with the best showing for the Lancers as she placed second in the 10,000 meters at the South Coast Conference Championships held April 26 and 29 at Long Beach City College.


Baseball Outlasts ELAC In 11 Innings, 5-4
Clutch pitching, defense, and timely hitting helped the Pasadena City College baseball team win its home finale, a 5-4 triumph over East Los Angeles that lasted 11 innings in four hours, seven minutes of play on Thursday. The Lancers close out the 2016 season tonight in a 6 p.m. South Coast Conference game at ELAC.

Although officially finishing in second place at the South Coast Conference Championships, the Pasadena City College women's swim team was a first in event victories, school feats, and awards at the 3-day meet held at Cerritos College April 21-23.

David Jimenez is king of the backstroke in the South Coast Conference after his two event wins highlighted the Pasadena City College men's swim team's performance at the conference championships held April 21-23 at Cerritos College.
