MOBILE, Ala. -- The 20th-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's tennis team fell to No. 14 Reinhardt (Ga.) University on Tuesday, May 15 in the first round of the 2018 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship in Mobile, Ala.Lawrence Tech (20-6) trailed 3-0 after the doubles flights as Stijn Bremer (SO/Arnhem, Gelderland, Netherland) and Jan Horstkoetter (SR/Cologne, Germany) dropped the No. 1 doubles 8-3 followed by Daniel Diaz (JR/Los Angeles, Chile) and Mason Wenzel (SR/Howell, Mich.) falling at No. 2 doubles 8-5 and Javier Alvarez (SR/Santiago de Compostela, Spain) and Patrick Szymczak (FR/Heidelberg, Germany) dropped a tough match at No. 3 doubles, falling 9-8 to put the Eagles up 3-0.

Lawrence Tech faces No. 14 Reinhardt (Ga.) University out of the Appalachian Athletic Conference.Lawrence Tech (20-5) enters the national championship with the reigning WHAC Player of the Year in Daniel Diaz (JR/Mexico). Diaz went 18-1 at No. 1 singles this season as he earned first team all-conference honors in his first season in Southfield. Mason Wenzel (SR/Howell, Mich.) went 11-1 at No. 6 singles while finishing 2018 with a 17-1 record. Patrick Szymczak (FR/Heidelberg, Germany) went 13-2 in his first season as a Blue Devils followed by Matthew Wenzel (FR/Howell, Mich.) who went 6-1 in his freshman campaign.

College of Art and Design 18-11 in the 2018 NAIA Women's Lacrosse National Invitational semifinal on Friday, May 11 at Aquinas athletic field in Grand Rapids, Mich.Lawrence Tech (14-5) struggled out of the gate as they gave up eight of the first 10 goals in the opening 15 minutes. Marci Schaeffer (SR/Eaton Rapids, Mich.) scored the the opening goal for Lawrence Tech to make it 4-1 at the 22:01 mark of the first half. Isabelle Vickers (SR/Rockford, MI) made it 6-2 at the 16:51 mark, but three straight goals from SCAD put the Bees up 9-2.

University 16-12 after two and half hours of delays, finishing a 5:40 p.m. start at 10:25 p.m. The Blue Devils now face No. 1 Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 11 in the 2018 NAIA Women's Lacrosse National Invitational Semifinal. It is the program's third straight appearance in the NAIA invitational semifinal game. Lawrence Tech (14-4) opened the game with four of the first five goals to take a 4-1 lead as Isabelle Vickers (SR/Rockford, MI) and Ashley Collins (SR/Hartland, MI) scored a pair of goals for the Blue Devils, but a four goal run from Keiser gave the Seahawks a 5-4 lead at halftime.

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team earned their first trip to the WHAC Tournament with a 3-1 win over second-seed Aquinas (Mich.) College on Monday, May 7. In the championship game, Lawrence Tech fell to University of Northwestern Ohio 3-2. The Blue Devils finished the season with their first winning record and tie the program record for wins in a season with 22. Lawrence Tech (22-18) took the early 1-0 lead in the championship game as Meredith Adams (SO/Portage, Mich. ) RBI single scored Brittany Wieland (FR/Alexandria, Va.). The Racers tied the game in the bottom of the third with an RBI single and took the 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Lawrence Tech got one run back in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice from Jackie Mattingly (SO/Chino Hills, Calif.), but were unable to get the tying run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Blue Devils face Reinhardt on Tuesday, May 15 at 1:30 CST (2:30 EST). Lawrence Tech earned an at-large bid to the tournament after another historic season. The Blue Devils won a record 13 straight matches this season as they built a 19-3 record with wins over four teams ranked or mentioned in the NAIA Top 25 poll. They are 0-1 at the NAIA national tournament.

They will face second-seed Aquinas (Mich.) College in their fourth elimination game of the tournament. The game is set for 12 p.m. on Monday, May 7 at Pacesetter Park in Sylvania, Ohio. The winner of that game moves on to face UNOH in the championship game at 2:30 p.m.

The Blue Devils are in the Indiana Tech pod with top-seed Indiana Tech and fourth-seed Concordia (Mich.) University - Ann Arbor. Lawrence Tech opens pod play with Concordia - Ann Arbor on Thursday, May 3 at 12 p.m. in Fort Wayne, Ind.Lawrence Tech (25-21, 13-13) split the season series with the Cardinals, falling the opening game of a doubleheader 8-6 and taking game two 6-5 in 10 innings. Tyler Childs (SO/Burt, Mich.) had the game-winning hit with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th. Matt Baker (SO/Traverse City, Mich.) closed the ninth in order to earn the win. In the opening game, Lawrence Tech held a 3-2 lead after five innings, but a three-run walk-off homerun by Concordia gave the Cardinals the 8-6 win.

They went 1-1 in the regular season over Northwestern Ohio, taking game one 4-1 and falling in game two 4-1. If the Blue Devils win, they face the winner of top-seed Madonna (Mich.) University and eighth-seed Concordia (Mich.) University - Ann Arbor at 8:30 p.m. on field five. If they lose, they will play on on field six at 8:30 p.m.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- Meredith Adams (SO/Portage, Mich. ), Alexa Cherney (SO/Farmington Hills, Mich. ), and Brittany Wieland (FR/Alexandria, Va.) of the Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University softball team earned Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Second Team All-Conference honors, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon. Adam and Cherney are receiving honors for the second straight season while Wieland earns conference honors in her first collegiate season. Adams led the team in batting average (.371), RBI (22), hits (39), and at-bats (105). Adams scored 14 runs and finished the season with a .495 slugging percentage. Adams earned first team honors as a freshman.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- Sean Fannon (SO/Grosse Pointe, Mich.) of the Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University baseball team earned Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference First Team Honors and made the WHAC Gold Glove team for his defensive work in right field. Fannon has now earned back-to-back gold gloves at right field and earned his first, first team honors after taking second team honors his freshman season. Fannon led the team in hitting with 59 hits and 179 at-bats. He led the Blue Devils in RBI (37), triples (5), doubles (14), total bases (95), runs scored (41), walks (22), sacrifice flies (3), and stolen bases (15). He was second in homeruns (4). In the field, Fannon finished the season with 1.000 fielding percentage with 94 putouts, 10 assists and 104 total chances.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University baseball team fell 10-8 to Concordia (Mich.) University - Ann Arbor and 28-0 against Indiana Tech to end their WHAC Tournament postseason in Fort Wayne, Ind. Lawrence Tech (25-23) trailed 3-0 after the first inning against the Cardinals, but runs in the second, fifth, and seventh gave the Blue Devils a 7-3 lead. Ryan Robinette (SO/Midland, Mich.) opened the scoring for Lawrence Tech with an RBI single to left field scoring Logan Barker (FR/Chatham, VA) to cut the lead to 3-1 after the second inning.

University men's tennis team earned WHAC Player of the Year, WHAC Newcomer of the Year, and First Team All-Conference honors, the conference office announced Sunday morning. Diaz becomes the first Blue Devil to earn player of the year honors after his 18-1 season in singles play and13-4 record in doubles action. Diaz also becomes the first Blue Devil to earn newcomer of the year. He is the third Blue Devil to earn all-conference singles honors.

They split the doubleheader in Livonia, Mich. on Saturday, April 28, falling 5-2 and winning 3-0, ending the regular season with a program record 25 wins. The Blue Devils now await the release of the WHAC Tournament as they sit in fifth place and the top six teams advance to the postseason. Lawrence Tech (25-21, 13-13) had a historic season as they doubled their win total in year two and are set to lock up their first trip to the conference tournament.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- Caroline Harpaintner (NA/Essenbach, Germany) of the Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's tennis team earned WHAC Newcomer of the Year honors in her first season with the Blue Devils, the conference office announced Sunday morning.Harpaintner added all-conference singles honors as well, going 12-2 at No. 1 singles this season. She was also 9-3 in doubles action with her primary playing partner Samantha Kohn (FR/Dearborn, Mich.). Kohn earned the teams champions of character honor for keeping up with the core values of NAIA Athletics.

Lawrence Tech (13-4) earned the WHAC automatic bid after capturing the conference tournament title on Saturday, April 28. Keiser earned their first trip to the national invitational with an at-large bid. The Seahawks went 11-4 on the season and rank fifth in the NAIA in assists per game (7.6) and goals per game (16.9).

University on Wednesday night in Ypsilanti, Mich.Lawrence Tech (23-18) fell behind early as the Eagles took a 3-0 lead after the first innings. The Blue Devils threw seven pitchers tonight as Alek Wietrzykowski (FR/Toledo, Ohio) started the game on the mound. He gave up three runs on four hits in one inning of work and was followed by Sam Brace (SO/Metamora, Ill.). Brace pitched two innings, Caleb Homan (SO/Strongsville, Ohio), James Castiglione (SR/Fenton, Mich.), Chris Burgess (JR/Grand Blanc, Mich.), Matt Blunk (SO/Ann Arbor, Mich.), and Harry Storch (FR/Orlando, FL) all saw an inning of work during the game. The six combined for seven strikeouts as Burgess gave up one run on two hits. Brace went two innings of no-hit ball while striking out two.

Lawrence Tech (24-19, 12-11) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings as Logan Barker (FR/Chatham, VA) scored Sean Fannon (SO/Grosse Pointe, Mich.) off an RBI double down the left field line in the first inning. The Blue Devils added two more runs in the second inning as Eddie Dopkowski (FR/Romeo, MI) singled to right center to score Ryan Robinette (SO/Midland, Mich.) and Austin King (SR/Davison, Mich.) to give LTU their three-run lead.

The win sparked a seven game win streak for the Blue Devils that saw them go from 9-8 to 16-9 and 3-2 in conference play. The winner of this match plays second-seed Aquinas at 4 p.m. at Davenport (Mich.) University.
