[Men's Basketball] Two Former Royals Face Off In Geraldton
GERALDTON, AUS – Two former members of the Royals' men's basketball team shared the court again for the first time in over a year. The Royals' alumni met in a State Basketball League of Western Australia tilt on May 19, 2018. Lochlan Cummings of the Perry Lake Hawks faced down Liam Hunt of the Geraldton Buccaneers on the Buccs' home court in a 91-81 win for the hosting Bucs.


[Softball] Royals' Record Season Comes To A Close In Fayette
FAYETTE, MO – No. 6 Hope International played in its second NAIA Opening Round semifinal game on Wednesday, May 16, with a game against the site host No. 18 Central Methodist. The Royals (47-11) were able to take an early lead but were unable to hold that lead for the duration of the game, falling 4-2 to CMU (43-11) to end the best season in program history.


[Softball] Royals Win NAIA Postseason Debut Against Dickinson State
FAYETTE, MO – No. 6 Hope International entered its first-ever NAIA postseason with a game against Dickinson State (ND) on Tuesday, May 15. The Royals' postseason debut was rained out the previous day on May 14, but the Royals (47-9) were able to weather a literal storm to come away winners the following day after a 5-1 final against the Blue Hawks (30-20).


[Softball] Third Time The Charm For Columbia, Royals Fall 6-3
FAYETTE, MO – No. 6 Hope International played its second game of the 2018 NAIA Softball Opening Round on Tuesday, May 15, with a rematch against Columbia College (MO). The Cougars (32-14) got off to a hot start at the plate and dropped HIU (47-10) into the loser's half of the bracket after outlasting the Royals with a 6-3 win.


[Outdoor Track & Field] Royals Just Miss Nationals, Set Two More Records In 800m
AZUSA, CA – Hope International wrapped up its 2018 season for track and field with a last-chance meet at Azusa Pacific University. The Royals entered Daphne Salomon, Salina Garcia, and Pablo Perez in the 800m at the APU Twilight meet in a final attempt to qualify for NAIA Nationals.


[Softball] Royals Ready For Opening Round Debut
FAYETTE, MO – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially announced the 40-team field and pairings for the 2018 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round. The sixth annual event will take place from May 14 - 16 at nine different locations. The format is a double-elimination, four-team tournament.

COSTA MESA, CA – Hope International played what may have been its final games of the 2018 season on Wednesday, May 2, with games against No. 20 Westmont and No. 10 William Jessup. The Royals (28-26) won their way past Westmont (34-16) with a 10-8 victory into the GSAC Tournament championship game against Jessup (38-15), but the WJU squad used a late rally to eliminate HIU with an 8-7 final.

COSTA MESA, CA – No. 6 Hope International played the opening game of day two at the 2018 GSAC Tournament with a matchup against (RV) William Jessup. The top-seeded Royals (45-9) needed a gem in the circle from Anessa Cepeda to advance, but HIU was able to win its way past the Warriors (31-15) with a 2-1 final score.

COSTA MESA, CA – No. 6 Hope International added one more program-first to its growing ledger of accolades after a win over (RV) William Jessup on Thursday, May 3. The Royals (46-9) used a pair of late runs to get by one of the best pitchers in the NAIA and earned their first-ever GSAC Tournament Championship with a 2-1 win over Jessup (31-16) in seven hard-fought innings.

COSTA MESA, CA – Hope International survived in another marathon GSAC Tournament game with a tilt against the hosting Vanguard Lions on Tuesday, May 1. The Royals (26-25) squandered a late lead in the regulation nine innings, but HIU rallied to outlast Vanguard (28-25-1) in 11 innings with a 7-6 final score.

COSTA MESA, CA – Hope International (44-9, 14-6 GSAC) kicks off the 2018 GSAC Tournament in their first round with a 6-2 win against Menlo University (29-20) at Vanguard University on Tuesday, May 1. Menlo won their first game of the day against Arizona Christian (15-27) but could not defeat the Royals in their second game.

COSTA MESA, CA – Hope International kept its momentum rolling into its second game of the day, turning an 11-inning win over Vanguard into additional fuel for a rematch with The Master's. TMU (28-25) had no answers for HIU (27-25) from the jump as the Royals pulled away early and stayed in front for the 8-2 victory.

 COSTA MESA, CA – Hope International opened the 2018 GSAC Tournament on Monday, Apr. 30, with a game against The Master's University. In a rematch of the 2017 Tournament Finals, the Royals (25-25) fell in a marathon opening game to The Master's (28-23) after a pair of runs in the 13th gave the Mustangs the win.


[Outdoor Track & Field] Royals Set Seven Records At GSAC Championships
SANTA BARBARA, CA – Hope International made its fourth appearance in the GSAC Track and Field Championships on Thursday and Friday, Apr. 26 & 27. The Royals competed in a pair of field events for the first time at the Championships, had four athletes earn All-GSAC finishes in five events, and took home three individual championships for the first time in program history.


[Softball] Royals Collect Four All-Conference Honors, Blas Named Coach Of The Year
ALISO VIEJO, CA – The Golden State Athletic Conference office has released the 2018 All-Conference team for softball. The 2018 All-GSAC Softball Team presented by Under Armour consists of 20 players, led by GSAC Player of the Year Kaitlin Estes of Vanguard University. The GSAC has Co-Pitchers of the Year, Shelbi Graifman of William Jessup University and Vanessa Dwyer of Vanguard University.  GSAC Coach of the Year honors go to Dennis Blas, who led Hope International to a share of the GSAC Regular Season Championship.


[Baseball] Royals Grab Three GSAC Honors, Set New Program Mark For Conference Awards
ALISO VIEJO, CA – The Golden State Athletic Conference office has released the 2018 All-GSAC Baseball Team Presented by Under Armour. The team consists of 20 players and is led by Co-Players of the Year Michael Stefanic from Westmont College and Austen Swift from William Jessup University. The GSAC Pitcher of the Year is Jordan Dreibelbis from Vanguard University. The GSAC Coach of the Year is Jake McKinley from William Jessup University.


[Outdoor Track & Field] Perez Sets Two New Program Records In Azusa
AZUSA, CA – Hope International traveled to former GSAC member, Azusa Pacific, for the final meet of the 2018 season prior to the GSAC Championships. The Royals set four new program records in the 5000m, 1500m, and 800m events between the men's and women's programs in the lead-up meet to the 2018 GSAC Championship at Westmont College.

FULLERTON, CA – No. 6 Hope International hosted the final GSAC series of the 2018 regular season on Saturday, Apr. 21, with a pair of games against No. 8 Vanguard. The Lions (48-8, 14-6 GSAC) took game one of the afternoon with a 4-1 win before the Royals (43-9, 14-6 GSAC) bounced back with a 4-2 victory in game two.

COSTA MESA, CA – Hope International won its eighth weekend series on Saturday, Apr. 21, with a doubleheader split against (RV) Vanguard. The Royals (25-24, 17-19 GSAC) took game one of the afternoon with a 5-1 win and dropped game two to their hosts Vanguard (29-23-1, 22-14 GSAC) by a final score of 8-3.

COSTA MESA, CA – Hope International University opened its final weekend series of the regular season with a 6-3 win against (RV) Vanguard on Friday, Apr. 20. The Royals (24-23, 16-18 GSAC) used all three of their traditional weekend starters in the game and used an early offensive surge to knock off the Lions (27-22-1, 21-13 GSAC).
