[Men's Golf] Merrihew hired to lead Men?s Golf; Assist Women?s Basketball
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Director of Athletics Chip Huber is pleased to announce the hiring of Ron Merrihew as the new men's golf coach and assistant women's basketball coach. Merrihew begins his duties immediately and will help lead the men's golf program starting in the fall of 2016 while assisting Katie Mattera in the women's basketball program for 2016-17.

2016 NAIA Baseball Scholar AthletesKANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Wednesday that 353 baseball student-athletes have been named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athletes. Cornerstone landed five individuals on the list in seniors Joel Boersen (SR/Jenison, Mich.), Zach Bohl (SR/Hudsonville, Mich.), Justin Geerts (SR/Surrey, B.C.), Travis Gordon (SR/Lowell, Mich.) and Jacob Klemme (SR/Plymouth, Wis.).
[Softball] Trio of softball players named NAIA Scholar Athletes
2016 NAIA Softball Scholar AthletesKANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Wednesday that 397 softball student-athletes have been named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes. Cornerstone placed three on the list in juniors Whitney Heasley (JR/Byron Center, Mich.) and Ciara Wilke (JR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) as well as senior Abby MacArthur (JR/Lachene, Mich.).

[Baseball] Zach Bohl named 2nd Team Academic All-American
CoSIDA ReleaseGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The CoSIDA Academic All-American Baseball Teams were announced Tuesday afternoon and senior Zach Bohl (SR/Hudsonville, Mich.) earned the nod after being voted in by Sports Information Directors across the country in the college divison. Bohl helped the Golden Eagles to a 19-33 overall record and their second straight appearance in the WHAC postseason tournament.

Final Results | Photo GalleryGULF SHORES, Ala. – Deon Fox (SR/Muskegon, Mich.) finished his outstanding 2015-16 season in a Golden Eagle uniform as the senior posted a 6th place finish in the pole vault on the final day of the 2016 Outdoor NAIA National Championships. Fox posted three All-American marks during his senior year as the meet concluded with an 18th place finish on the men's side and 66th place on the women's.
M-T&F/XCTeams | W-T&F/XC Teams GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The CoSIDA Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Teams were announced Thursday afternoon and seniors Kayla Hunt (SR/Cedar Springs, Mich.) and Tyler Steigenga (SR/Holland, Mich.) were joined by junior Gabe Turner ing earning the nod after being voted in by Sports Information Directors from District 1 that includes 21 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The trio has helped the Golden Eagles to a 19-28 overall record with one series remaining in the regular season.

Cornerstone will resume action on Friday with the Racewalk and Kevin Vroegh (SO/Dyer, Ind.) in the 800m. Action is being streamed live on naianetwork.com.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Head volleyball coach Ryan Campbell is pleased to announce the hiring of Craig Vlietstra as his new assistant for the 2016 campaign. Vlietstra comes to Cornerstone with numerous years of collegiate coaching experience and will bring a wealth of knowledge of the game and recruiting to the Golden Eagle program.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Head men's bowling coach Chris Slagter has added Wyoming-Lee standout Jorge Evans-Guzman to the 2016-17 roster. It comes as another local product for the second-year coach as Cornerstone will enter 2016-17 competing in the WHAC and USBC.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone University head men's soccer coach Mark Bell has announced seniors Regan Billings (SR/Wichita, Kan.), Nick Hopkins (JR/Ada, Mich.) and junior Kevin Nimmo (SO/Livonia, Mich.) will serve as captains for the 2016 season. The team is fresh off an 8-10-1 campaign that saw them finish 6-4-1 in league play.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Head women's basketball coach Katie Mattera has announced the addition of four student athletes to the program for the 2016-17 school year. Mattera has signed a pair of local high school standouts in Wayland's Ali Cutler and Hudsonvilles Shaina DenBesten as well as transfers Cass Vredevoogd of Dordt College and Julie Brown of Grand Rapids CC.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone University men's soccer head coach Mark Bell inked four more student athletes to the program for 2016 to join the pair of Holland Christian signees from earlier this season. Bell will welcome in Habin Bang, Joshua Mitchell, Matthew Nykamp and Kachinvya Silwamba to join Joshua Busscher and Ben Stump for next season.

Games will be played at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Monday at Cornerstone and at Davenport and the tournament will finish on Tuesday and Wednesday at CU.

CU fell 4-3 to Madonna in the opener and 11-2 in the nightcap to the Panthers to finish the 2016 campaign at 19-33 overall.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Head coach Kim Elders is pleased to announce the signings of four standout student athletes to join the men's basketball program in 2016-17. Elders and his staff have inked local products Tyler Baker and Riley Costen as well as state-wide prospects in Kyle Hayes and Jake Brubaker. All four will join a team fresh off a 27-7 campaign that resulted in the team's 14th trip to the NAIA DII National Tournament.

[Women's Basketball] Tanner Hostetler named Cornerstone's Valedictorian
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone women's basketball student athlete Tanner Hostetler (SR/Archbold, Ohio) has been named the school's valedictorian for the class of 2016. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Finance with a GPA of 3.99 and is the daughter of Jeryl and Jill Hostetler of Pettisville, Ohio.
